DUE TO THE FDNY'S UNWILLINGNESS TO ALLOW US TO OPERATE THE DEPARTMENT WILL BE SHUTTING OUR DOOR FOR GOOD.

A Small History of the

Aviation Volunteer Fire Department Co. Assn Inc. of Harding Park - Clason Point  Higgs Beach - Soundview Area

Volunteer hose companies have been an integral part of life in our borough,but today only two remain. One of the two are the Aviation Volunteer Fire Dept. and still serves the people of our community during fire, flood or other emergencies.

If One Goes They all will Go - Save all Volunteer and paid Fire Departments

Aviation Volunteer Fire Department is Proud to Service and Protect by Volunteering our time and Lifes to keep You,our Bronx Community Safe, Together.

The Aviaition Volunteer Fire Dept.  of the Bronx have been Serving Clason Point since 1923 - Once located at 1820 Gildersleeve Ave.

Since force to move it is still an intergal part of life in Harding Park.

Harding Park was named in 1923 when

President Warren G.Harding the 29th President to serve passed away, but an earlier name for this community was Higgs Beach and prior that Snakapins.

A poem from the Chief:

Some members of the community say they have never heard of us. Some say we are great and some say we are a nusiance.

Here is what they can never say. That we abandon the community that we vowed to respond to.

To the people who say they never heard of us, one reason stands why, its simply because when you dial 911 in an emergency it doesn't matter who show's up or why.

Paid or volunteer its doesn't matter to me when you show up to my house to save my baby.

To the people who say we're great thanks for the support , responding or not AVFD will hold down the fort.

And to the people we come to annoy I send my aplogies in advance if helping the community is a bother to you I suggest you give us a hand.
